ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Michelle Santos, LEED AP BD+C, Associate AIA, is a design professional and sustainability advocate currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from California College of the Arts and a Master of Arts in Sustainable Design at Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

Michelle has been working in architecture, engineering and construction since 2001. Her professional experience encompasses all project phases (planning, program management, design development, schematic design, project management, construction, finishing and closeout) for residential, heavy civil and solar energy projects. She has worked for numerous small businesses in the San Francisco and Los Angeles areas, as well as Franklin Templeton Investments, Ross Stores, Belectric Solar, Van Acker Construction Associates, Moroso Construction, NorthWall Builders, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, the San Francisco Department of Public Works, the Santa Clara Valley Water District and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Michelle has volunteered on industry relevant committees including the NCARB Licensing Advisory Committee, the CalTrans Small Business Council and the City & County of San Francisco's Contract Monitoring Division Mentor-Protege Program to help facilitate programs and co-author legislation.
